Florentis agrees to supply Handwritten Signature Technology
and Services to Nationwide Building Society
Frome, Somerset, UK (8 November 2002) — Handwritten signature
specialists Florentis today announced an agreement to supply consultancy and
software development services to Nationwide Building Society. Nationwide has
been researching the use of biometrics for identifying customers for two years
and have reached the conclusion that handwritten electronic signatures will enable
them to significantly reduce paper and help to prevent fraud.
“We are very excited to be working closely with Nationwide to develop and
implement what is essentially the first consumer facing biometric signature
application to a UK wide audience”,
said Nick Mettyear, Florentis Managing Director.
“Nationwide are leading the way in taking the traditional method of authorising
documents, signing, and bringing it into the electronic domain, creating a legal
electronic signature.”
