Company History

Prior to forming Florentis its founding members were originally employed by PenOp Ltd. where, over a period of eight years, they were responsible for the development and integration of the world's leading technology for digitised handwritten signatures. PenOp's Intellectual Property and products were sold to Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) in October 2000, and this presented the opportunity for the team to establish themselves as an autonomous consultancy in the form of Florentis. The new company was incorporated in October 2000 and is based in Frome, Somerset, UK.

Since then Florentis has established a close link with CIC as the corporation's only external development resource, so continuing to work in the field of handwritten technologies. This has led inevitably to associated work for other clients involving the integration of CIC products and the provision of signature consultancy services.

Other commissions have taken advantage of the more diverse services that Florentis is able to provide. The team's work on biometric verification technologies over the last decade has involved much re-engineering of academic numerical algorithms to produce robust commercial products. Of particular note is the Profile Sequencing technology invented by Polygnostics Ltd, with Florentis taking responsibility for software design and implementing the first components and applications.
