Frome, Somerset, UK (8 November 2002) — Handwritten signature specialists Florentis today announced an agreement to supply consultancy and software development services to Nationwide Building Society. Nationwide has been researching the use of biometrics for identifying customers for two years and have reached the conclusion that handwritten electronic signatures will enable them to significantly reduce paper and help to prevent fraud.
“We are very excited to be working closely with Nationwide to develop and implement what is essentially the first consumer facing biometric signature application to a UK wide audience”, said Nick Mettyear, Florentis Managing Director. “Nationwide are leading the way in taking the traditional method of authorising documents, signing, and bringing it into the electronic domain, creating a legal electronic signature.”
Florentis Ltd is an independent software consultancy specialising in handwritten signatures. Working at strategic and practical levels, Florentis designs and implements systems using the latest technologies to eliminate paper from business processes and improve security.
Florentis was established in 2000 following the closure of the offices of PenOp. Five former PenOp employees came together and formed Florentis to offer expert advice and services on issues surrounding handwritten signatures.
