Over the past six years the team has been working with Forensic Document Examiners to establish the forensic strength of digitised signature technology as a credible and superior alternative to paper-based solutions. Having been responsible for the long-term research projects into handwritten signatures Florentis has unique insight into use of signatures and as a result is able to offer expert advice on the design of paperless systems and on the legality of eSignature solutions.
When CIC Inc. bought the assets of PenOp Ltd. in October 2000 they initially engaged Florentis to support the former PenOp products and customers. Since then the services have expanded such that Florentis now develops new products for CIC. This has given the consultancy unrivalled knowledge and insight into the InkTool products, and enables us to provide unsurpassed consultancy and integration services.
The development of signature verification techniques has given Florentis wide experience in numerical solutions, including neural networks, elastic matching, dynamic programming and numerical annealing. In more general terms these skills may be summarized as the application of solid engineering principles to numerical techniques for practical solutions. Substantial experience has been gained in the development and re-engineering of academic and theoretical algorithms for use in commercial systems, including server-side components used for marketing and web-based systems.
Florentis can provide proficient research services, ranging from technology review and algorithm development to the design of field investigations. Example studies have included signature forgery trials and research into the use of biometric security mechanisms.
